@ the PEEK&POKE Computer Museum
Ulica Ivana Grohovca 2, Rijeka/Croatia
Permisivno licencirana (glitch) umjetnost i alati otvorenog koda
Skupna izložba “Ethical Dilemmas” okuplja 7 autora_ica i rezultate njihova rada u procesu istoimene petodnevne radionice održane u listopadu 2021. godine.
Djela nastala u skupnim sesijama ovom prilikom predstavljaju se riječkoj publici mrežnom i multimedijskom izložbom u prostoru računalnog muzeja PEEK&POKE u Rijeci.
Putem WiFi mreže “fubar” kontinuirano dostupne na javnoj površini uz Muzej PEEK&POKE moguće je pregledati skupni remix video cijelog postava, a individualna video djela moguće je vidjeti prikazana na muzejskim izlošcima, prema radnom vremenu Muzeja: https://www.peekpoke.hr/visit/
Izlažu: AK Ocol * Carolina Romano * Chimereinvisible * j3d1n4 * Miksitz * Paul Beaudoin * V
Mentor: Ian Keaveny aka Crash-Stop
Radionica je dio projekta Inquiry Inc. 2021 i /'fu:bar/ proširenog programa u vodstvu umjetničke organizacije Format C te suradnji s CIM APURI i računalnim muzejom PEEK&POKE. Program financijski podržavaju Zaklada Kultura Nova i Grad Rijeka (Odjel gradske uprave za kulturu).
Creative commons (glitch) art and open source tools
The collective show “Ethical Dilemmas” joins 7 authors and their work created in the week-long workshop held in October 2021.
During the sessions participants have created video experiments focusing on the ethos of free software and open hardware as well as the relevance of freely licensed multimedia work. The workflow has held elements of digital commons, concepts of glitch art video as well as remix methods - focusing on creating by re/deconstructing errors, inquiring upon underlying digital color systems and studying the constant flux of experimental multimedia in absence of semantic narratives.
The videos created in these group sessions are presented to the audience of Rijeka/Croatia in a hyper/multimedia exhibition display based at the PEEK&POKE Computer Museum.
The collective group video remix can be accessed from public space by connecting to the “fubar” WiFi next to the PEEK&POKE Museum, while the individual pieces can be seen inside the Museum, according to its working hours: https://www.peekpoke.hr/visit/

Ian Keaveny aka Crash-Stop
Koristim i podržavam softver otvorenog koda a svoja djela objavljujem pod creative commons licencom CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
I gave up traditional media after downloading images from a cheap digital camera and becoming fascinated with how they had become inadvertently glitched. My work is based on forcing software, hardware and codecs to function in unintended ways, through hex editing, sonification, misinterpretation, circuit-bending and the exploitation of hardware flaws found in older computers when mismatched with obsolete operating systems. As well as my own video I use a variety of found sources including VHS, out of copyright silent movies, government information films, ad-breaks from satellite television and footage of modern politicians – I treat the internet as an environment to work within, comment upon and as source material. I use and endorse open source software and publish my work under creative commons as CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
