U praktičnome dijelu radionice polaznici/polaznice rade s Processingom (Javom). Prethodno iskustvo u Processingu nije uvjet, no poželjno je poznavanje osnova kodiranja (tipovi podataka, funkcije, petlje).

Yetkin Yilmaz je fizičar elementarnih čestica i medijski umjetnik.

This four hour workshop aims to familiarise artists with some concepts and techniques that are used in scientific studies.
We will discuss on identifying/quantifying features in data (or image), and will draw the parallels between image processing in digital art and data processing in science.
For the hands-on part, Processing (Java) will be used. Prior knowledge of Processing in particular is not required, however some elementary experience on very basic coding would be useful (data types, functions, loops).

Yetkin Yilmaz is a particle physicist and a media artist. He has worked for the CMS experiment at CERN for 10 years, while producing media art projects in parallel. With an interest in education through art, he has participated in game design projects. At the moment he works on machine-learning research at Laboratoire de l’Accélérateur Linéaire in France, and organizes amateur coding workshops with the Nogozon collective in Paris.

GLIC is an image codec designed especially for artistic databending purposes. It includes steps and techniques used in most modern codecs like h264/h265(hevc) or VP9; therefore all of known glitch artifacts are easy to reveal plus plenty of others. The codec is designed to give more control during databending and a possibility to easily turn on and off features and encoding steps.

<ODE TO OPENSOURCE – Giuseppe Torre>

Giuseppe Torre – Njegovo djelovanje obuhvaća elektroničke performanse, audiovizualne kompozicije i medijsku umjetnost.

Giuseppe Torre – His work spans live electronic performances, audiovisual compositions and media art. More recently he has developed a keen interest in the issues arising from the relationships between art and technology; a process that has so far led him to question under what forms and forces truly creative efforts may, or may not, arise and what the notion of authorship in digital media art may refer to.
Currently he’s lecturing at the University of Limerick (Ireland). His research interests are: a/v live performances, media art, coding for arts, critical code studies, philosophy of art.

<rouse – Leandro Estrella>

Leandro Estrella is an emerging artist, particularly prominent on the European scene. He works and experiments with a plurality of materials and media, tending to the exploration of new technologies, which he adds to his artwork. In recent years, his artistic research is based on the paradoxical relationship between creative destruction and destructive creation, which he articulates with other subjects such as time and memory.
